Everything you need to know about SNL’s second musical guest of the new season

The new season of Saturday Night Live started last weekend with the country-pop singer Kacey musgraves being the first musical guest of the new episode of the 47th season.

This week’s episode, which airs on October 9, features Halsey as a musical guest.

Halsey, born Ashley Frangipane, is an American singer and songwriter who gained a lot of attention after her self-published music drew masses of fans on social media. Halsey was then signed by Astralwerks in 2014.

Halsey’s debut album, Wild lands arrived in 2015 and was certified Double Platinum by the RIAA. Its follow-up, Kingdom of the Desperate Fountain arrived in 2017 as her third studio album, maniacal arrived in 2020 and it was her best-selling album to date.

Halsey’s more pop sound was left behind on her latest album, If I can’t have love I want power, which had a darker, more industrial sound that was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails.

Back in 2020, Billboard reported that Halsey has sold over a million albums and received over six million streams in the United States.

Last week, Musgraves became the first person to perform completely nude on Saturday Night Live.

Musgraves – who was introduced by first-time host Owen Wilson – performed the track “Justified” from his latest album Star crossed.

The country-pop star delivered her performance sitting in a chair with her legs crossed and a guitar covering her body. She appeared to be completely naked except for her cowboy boots, but viewers were unsure if Musgraves was, in fact, naked behind the guitar.

A spokesperson for the singer has since confirmed to Variety that the 33-year-old was completely naked and that she did SNL the story as the first fully nude performer to appear in the series. “She was naked,” the Musgraves publicist said. “Precautions were taken, and this was the first time this had happened on the show.”

They also confirmed that a sheet was put in place to separate the singer from the audience during the set-up of the show.

In addition to “Justified”, the Grammy Award winner also performed “Photo Roll”, another song from her latest album.
