In an exclusive interview, she reveals more about her recent success:

Congratulations and thank you for giving us a perfect song for Navratri 2021 – Ghani Cool Chori. Tell us something more about this? How did you come across this song?

BT – Thank you very much. My last song, ‘Ghani Cool Chori’ (a Gujarati expression meaning a Very Bindass Girl), turned out to be one of the biggest musical hits of the year. But all the credit goes to our great Music Director, Mr. Amit Trivedi, a nationally awarded musician with millions of fans around the world. He is the reason for the success of my song, because he believed in my voice and my potential. Additionally, Amit Trivedi introduced the song to the audience in such a way that they seemed to have been waiting for it for years.

Tell us about your experience working with a national winner, the great music composer Amit Trivedi?

BT – I have been an avid follower of Amitji’s work for a very long time. For any artist or singer, working with a certain musician and musical director is always a dream, and for me it was working with Amit sir. Although I had the good fortune to meet Amit sir at several events, he definitely knew my voice, the songs I was doing and everything about me as a great songwriter knows how to pick the right song for the right singer. Therefore, Amit sir knew my voice and wanted to give me the right opportunity to sing for him. So when he did this song, he called me right away. I still remember the day I got his call for that song. It was amazing! A complete fan moment for me. (laughs) And when I met Amit Sir, I found him so humble. The pressure of the job of being a renowned musician and living legend was not seen in his face, and he was very cool and calm. I was completely overwhelmed by the way Amit monsieur explained the song and its situation and made me feel comfortable. I thank him with all my gratitude for pouring out so much favor and advice throughout the creation of this song.

The lyrics of the song are very catchy and easy to hum. What do you think?

BT – Kausar Munir wrote the lyrics for the song – Ghani Cool Chori. She is a well known writer and lyricist in Bollywood. I like his way of writing (Kausar Munir) and I have followed all of his work. His way of writing reflects his different personality, signature and identity. She wrote it in a way that makes it incredibly catchy and upbeat.

Has the song received a huge response on social media? How do you feel as an artist?

BT – I’m on Cloud nine. I was lucky to have love from people because they enjoyed the songs so much. Seeing thousands of views in a matter of hours, and people doing spools on Instagram, doing dance covers, and more, is an experience every artist longs for. However, the success of the song depends on a fantastic team. We had a great composer for his music, the lyrics, the way he was sung, the way he was portrayed and what Taapsee Pannu looked like and played on screen. I am fortunate and fortunate to have a dedicated team.

As a singer, do you rank it among your best work?

BT – I think Ghani Cool Chori is another feather in my cap. Out of all the songs I have sung so far, this will definitely be one of my favorites for a variety of reasons. I had the unique opportunity to work with Amit Trivedi Sir, the highly acclaimed lyricist Kausar Munir, and finally, my favorite actress Tapsee, the main lady of song and film.

Plus, I never rested on my laurels. It has taken me many years to reach people’s hearts, and I aspire to put in the same level of hard work in the years to come.

Bing Crosby’s heirs sell stake in estate to promote music to new generation of listeners http://www.tangodorado.com/bing-crosbys-heirs-sell-stake-in-estate-to-promote-music-to-new-generation-of-listeners/ Mon, 11 Oct 2021 18:19:35 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/bing-crosbys-heirs-sell-stake-in-estate-to-promote-music-to-new-generation-of-listeners/

NEW YORK – Harry Crosby was 19 when his father, Bing, died in 1977. But when he goes to a mall or a party in December, there’s a good chance he will hear his father’s voice. sing “White Christmas”.

He and his family want to hear more of that voice over the next 11 months, a desire that led to the announcement of a deal on Monday to sell an equal stake in the rights of Bing Crosby’s estate to Primary Wave Music.

This is another example of how catalog rights selling has become a booming business, most involving rock artists writing their own music – Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young and Stevie Nicks are among them. examples. The Crosby chord is the largest involving a pre-rock artist who primarily performed songs written by others.

The transaction is estimated at more than $ 50 million.

A younger generation knows Crosby better through “White Christmas” and the duet with David Bowie on “The Little Drummer Boy” made for a TV special shortly before his death. Fewer people alive remember Crosby’s time as a major recording artist and movie star.

“There were things that were absolutely must-have hits in the 1930s and 1940s, for an extended period of time, and they just just disappeared,” said Harry Crosby. “People associate dad with Christmas, but in the 1940s and 1950s they didn’t associate him with Christmas. They’ve associated dad with tons of stuff, and that’s what I want to bring back.

Some of her hit songs include “Pennies From Heaven”, “It’s Been a Long, Long Time”, “Don’t Fence Me In” and “Accentuate the Positive”.

Crosby won the Academy Award for Best Actor for playing a priest in the 1945 movie “Going My Way” and has directed seven “road” films with his friend, comedian Bob Hope. His association with golf is also remembered as he created the first pro-am tournament and is said to have been a member of 75 golf clubs.

Crosby’s family, which includes his widow and two of Harry’s siblings, have taken an interest in a documentary series to tell the Bing story.

Primary Wave’s first priority is to increase Crosby’s digital footprint, strengthen her profile on Spotify and add her music to playlists for a generation that doesn’t know her, said Larry Mestel, Founder and CEO of the society.

“We want to be in business and partner with the greatest of the greatest, whatever the genre, whatever the era,” Mestel said. Primary Wave also works with the estates of Count Basie and Ray Charles.

The challenge is to infiltrate a new youth culture with the work of a mature artist, he said. Unlike many rock era artists involved in such deals, Crosby is obviously not around to perform or promote his work.

But while song-editing is at the heart of many such chords, Mestel said Primary Wave is looking more broadly at ways to get an artist’s name known and, of course, to earn money. money thanks to his likeness or his work. He sees huge potential in Crosby’s cinematic properties.

“The way I see daddy isn’t just through the lens of music and movies,” Crosby said. “He’s been a pioneer in all the different mediums and everything that has come of it – technology and music and golf, sportsmanship and hunting. There are a lot of different things that describe the human being.

The times he hears “White Christmas” while in public made Crosby smile.

“I miss him a lot,” he said. “It’s a time of reflection. It’s not painful, it’s inspiring. It’s reassuring that with all he has done and as hard as he has worked, he is recognized again and again.

Musical Maverick Jhelisa Anderson releases long-awaited new concept album ‘7 Keys’ http://www.tangodorado.com/musical-maverick-jhelisa-anderson-releases-long-awaited-new-concept-album-7-keys/ Mon, 11 Oct 2021 16:47:09 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/musical-maverick-jhelisa-anderson-releases-long-awaited-new-concept-album-7-keys/

We were delighted to meet the enigmatic and musical maverick Jhelisa Anderson, who released her volumes 1 and 2 of “7 Keys”, on her original label Dorado Records. The Mississippi-born singer was a mainstay of the London scene in the 90s, starting with One Little Indian records as part of Soul family feeling. She collaborated with Björk on “Debut” and won a BPI Award for double platinum “Boss Drum” with The Shamen. Massive Attack called her for “Heigoland” and Chaka Khan recorded her song “Death Of A Soul Diva”. It is open for James brown, Herbie Hancock and Roy Ayers, and tour with Nitin Sawhney.

Jhelisa is a true original, always exploring new lands. She signed with an independent label Dorado Records, which gave him complete creative freedom and released his first two albums – 1994’s “Galactica Rush” (with its hugely revered anthem “Friendly Pressure”) and 1997’s critically acclaimed “Language Electric”. New Age ideology has permeated much of Jhelisa’s music production, so a concept album based on her research into the use of sacred sounds of drones in the ancient oriental. Music is not surprising. Now, as the label’s 30th anniversary approaches, Dorado has reunited with Jhelisa to present “7 Keys” V.1 & V.2, an exciting concept album inspired by ancient oriental music, balanced with contemporary sounds, where the 7 Musical scale tones and sound frequencies resonate with each of the chakras.

The breathtaking visual representation of the album is “Atmospheria”, a haunting and spellbinding combination of three tracks from the album “Solar plexus “,” The root ” and “8N Everything.” The first single is Solar Plexus E 320Hz an epic opus in the key of E, which resonates at 320Hz in alignment with the solar plexus chakra of the body.

Leah Marriott: Can you break down your thinking behind the new music?

Jhelisa Anderson: It’s frequency design, that’s what I do. Since my childhood, I knew which notes sounded good, which chords were interesting. Now I know that harmonic design creates a certain field, a certain feeling. It can make you jump and dance, be happy, be sad. It changes your atmosphere, transports you to another place, changes your entire bio-system.

How did the project get started?

I expressed myself creatively. When you start out like I did, off the beaten track, you can go beyond what you’ve done before, take the freedom to be a freelance artist and do something with it. It was the challenge for me.

“7 Keys” is part of a line of black women making revolutionary psychedelic music for meditation, from Alice Coltrane to Pauline Oliveros, what is your intention with this music, is it designed to connect and expand our minds?

I’m constantly using frequencies, it’s about not letting it use you. The change in frequencies on my biological system and my mental state is something that I have become more aware of, it has brought me more control over its use.

The “7 Keys” concept is what I use in my own way to tune myself in everyday. The technology of yoga and meditation is also used which gives me more balance and clarity.

What is it like coming back to Dorado Records to release your new music?

It’s exciting to go back to Dorado and work with Ollie Buckwell again as he already knew and understands the benefits of this technology, it made sense for us to introduce “7 Keys” and its mindful listening vibes to people. People are stressed out these days and I hope that helps ease the chaos a bit.

150 years later, the musical genre Danzón de Cuba is still alive and some are being rediscovered http://www.tangodorado.com/150-years-later-the-musical-genre-danzon-de-cuba-is-still-alive-and-some-are-being-rediscovered/ Mon, 11 Oct 2021 05:49:42 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/150-years-later-the-musical-genre-danzon-de-cuba-is-still-alive-and-some-are-being-rediscovered/

A man in a white guayabera walks up to a woman and holds out his hand, palm up, inviting her to dance. She gets up and waves her fan. On the dance floor, they come closer.

Such a scene at the end of the 19th century in Cuba was scandalous in some circles. It was also a new musical genre, the danzón.

Today, danzón scores from this period, lost in the archives of the Cuban city of Matanzas, have been rediscovered. Four of them were recently recorded by the Failde Orchestra, highlighting what has become Cuba’s national dance and then spread to other countries in the region.

Recording sheet music is important so that today’s society and future generations “have a benchmark for what their identity was,” said musicologist María Victoria Oliver.

She and her colleagues found the scores after consulting the archives of several institutions in Matanzas, including the provincial library, concert band and local museum. Although the danzón began in the city in 1879, there was little written record until the beginning of the 20th century.

The 16 pieces discovered included both danzones and danzonetes, the latter being a variation incorporating vocal performance and other changes. Several are part of the album “Joyas Inéditas”, or “Jewels inédits”. danzon.

“It is a great joy to be able to find unpublished scores that allow us to demonstrate an evolution of the genre,” said Oliver. The work was heavy and included the “translation” of the scores, as the writing method of the 19th century was different from that of today and arrangements had to be made to update the music without losing its essence.

Located 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Havana, Matanzas had electricity even before the capital, thanks to its immense bay, a transit point for Cuban sugar exports as well as the arrival of slaves. to work in the sugar plantations in defiance of European bans on slavery.

The city preserves vestiges of the sugar boom: stately homes and other old residences with wooden walls and high ceilings which welcomed the emergence of the danzón, precursor of other musical genres such as mambo or chachachá.

The danzón has spread to the Dominican Republic and Mexico, where today it has passionate followers.

The first danzón had its origins in the ancient Spanish contradanzas, danced in pairs but physically distant, and it incorporated the Cuban musical heritage that had roots in Africa. It was premiered by Miguel Failde and his Matanzas orchestra in 1879 and titled “The Heights of Simpson”.

The album “Joyas Inéditas”, recorded in February, includes the saved danzones “El Naranjero”, “Cuba Libre”, “A La Habana me Voy” and “Nievecita” by Miguel Failde himself.

“I’m happy because this will be my tribute to Miguel Failde,” said descendant Ethiel Failde, who now conducts the orchestra, mostly made up of artists in their twenties.

Ethiel Failde said he “fell in love” with the danzón when his elementary school teacher taught him to dance and later adopted him as a professional musician.

“Joyas Inéditas” was launched in two formats: one standard with a typical acrylic case and the other inserted in a wooden box that includes five Cuban cigars.

“It’s one of the longest-lasting Cuban genres,” Failde said. “150 years later, he’s still alive.”

Album Review: Laura Jane Grace – At War With The Silverfish http://www.tangodorado.com/album-review-laura-jane-grace-at-war-with-the-silverfish/ Sun, 10 Oct 2021 19:00:14 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/album-review-laura-jane-grace-at-war-with-the-silverfish/

Album Review: Laura Jane Grace - At War With The Silverfish

Short and sweet tracks sharing nostalgic despair

Laura Jane Grace is an artist of many undeniably natural talents. In addition to her powerful writing for the punk band Against Me !, she wrote transexual in 2016, a memoir that captures her experience as a transgender musician. On September 22, she continues to share her talents in her latest EP, At war with the silverfish.

The seven-track EP is generally short and sweet – each song is about two minutes long – but it still has enough of a story of nostalgia and regret. This folk-punk EP opens with “Three of Hearts”, which features the narrator who feels worthless; with two broken hearts and one of gold, they fall in love with contempt and forgive desperately.

In “Lolo 13”, listeners begin to see the desire for a past romance. With a rapid stomp-like percussion behind the acoustic tale of “Looking for a Girl in the City,” this song provides the soundtrack for a coming-of-age adventure. Although aAll adventures must come to an end, and in “Long Dark Night”, these lovebirds remember their time together before saying goodbye. Yet the rhythm of ’80s synths and sodas behind Grace’s lo-fi vocals suggests more mischief than melancholy.

However, in the gentle “Electrostatic Sweep” sadness begins to set in. The distant, slowed-down voice of the artist plunges the listener into a nocturnal haze, and it seems years have passed as she longs to “” talk about what it was like when we were young. However, she continues to take care of the mundane parts of life, as evidenced by the struggles involved in the “Day Old Coffee” routine. In the shortest song on the EP, people see how memories of the past consume even quick, everyday tasks.

“Smug FuckFace” features the album’s most regrets: the disheartened narrator desperately misses what they had in the past but is even more worried that he’ll never find that feeling again. In what follows “Yesterday Pt. II,” however, she contradicts – or perhaps responds to – that desperation, claiming that the joy of the past feels like it’s just, well, yesterday.

This EP follows Grace’s debut album as a solo artist, Stay alive. Last June, she performed a song from this album, “Swimming Pool Song”, as part of Rolling stones “In my room” video series. In August, she was efficient with Brendan Kelly at Four Seasons Total Landscaping. Even last September, she launched Audible Series “Word + Music” with its story “Black Me Out”. Laura Jane Grace has an aptitude for sharing these deeply personal and always relatable stories, and At war with the silverfish finds the balance between heartbreaking and universal experiences.

The group regrouped and released the much-acclaimed “Born innocent” in 2020, their first studio album containing all new material since 1986.

Both vintage and timeless, “V” walk on the ALCATRAZZ textured territories of yesteryear but with renewed vigor and verve.

“The new album brings us full circle from our original roots to a much heavier modern version of all things ALCATRAZZ in 2021 “, confirms Shea. “I feel great and look forward to the release of our new album with its rock and heavy metal sounds.”

There is little doubt that this ALCATRAZZ running at full speed unhindered and in that regard, White’s supreme vocal work across the twelve tracks serves as a catalyst for their creative synergy, in addition to an overwhelmingly positive energy that brings the band closer than it ever was. since, well, 1986!

“The guys called me up and asked if I wanted to join the band, and, you know, I’m sure they could and would have been spoiled for choice, but they asked me,” beams White. “I heard the music and “Turn of the wheel” was the first song we wrote together. It’s a great song, a “metal” hit! ‘V’ has a few songs that are ‘commercially metal’, and then there are some that are very dark and threatening. It touches a lot of isolation and loneliness, alcoholism, redemption and darkness, but I hope there is a ray of hope and light at the end of it all. “

Produced by Gilles Lavery and Jimmy waldo, and mixed by Andy Haller (Elton john, Joe cocker, SYSTEM OF A DOWN), “V” also includes guest appearances from TANK‘s Cliff Evans (low on “Grace of God”), and RIOT‘s Donnie Van Stavern (low on “Guardian angel”, “Night watch” and “Target”), highlighting how popular ALCATRAZZrest music with their peers. “V” means ALCATRAZZthe fifth studio album of course… but it also resolutely represents Victory; the victory that sees ALCATRAZZ 2021 stronger than ever despite all the obstacles.

Last fall, original ALCATRAZZ singer Graham Bonnet declared that he was “no longer affiliated” with ALCATRAZZthe manager Gilles Lavery. “At the time, the other ALCATRAZZ MPs fought back, saying they were “still represented” by Lavery and blasting Cap to “dictate[ing] to us who may or may not be our collective or individual manager. ”Shortly after, Cap released a statement via his social media in which he said he would “always record and perform with ALCATRAZZ. I am the founder and main songwriter and have been since the group was formed in 83. “He added that he” would deliver the incredible news. BBC radio must not give up on new music http://www.tangodorado.com/bbc-radio-must-not-give-up-on-new-music/ Sun, 10 Oct 2021 04:00:00 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/bbc-radio-must-not-give-up-on-new-music/

Have you heard anything good lately? This is a serious question. For music lovers, there has never been a greater premium on a decent recommendation. I’m part of a monthly “Album Club” in which a group of men – okay, bald, middle aged – get together and listen to a record. The problem isn’t picking classics from the past, it’s finding something for the future.

Yet there has never been more new music at your fingertips. Services like Spotify and Apple Music mean your new favorite band is probably already sitting there on your phone, just waiting to dazzle. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Billboard 200, America’s singles charts, featured about 500 different artists per year; 30,000 new albums would be released every 12 months.

By 2015, these two figures had doubled. Now, in an age when anyone with an Internet connection can “drop” a song or album, new music is spouting out like a spur of the moment. In February of this year, as part of Spotify’s “Stream On” event, the company proudly announced that more than 60,000 new songs are now ingested by its platform every day. That’s 22 million songs a year or a new single every 1.4 seconds.

There are over 8 million of what Spotify calls “creators” on its system, up from 5 million in 2018. “I think by 2025 we could have up to 50 million creators on our platform, including art is enjoyed by a billion users around the world, ”said Spotify founder Daniel Ek. “It’s not a prediction or a goal: it’s really both a challenge and a great opportunity.”

To me that sounds like a threat. If the amount of music uploaded to Spotify increases as the number of “creators” on Spotify increases, by 2025, around 375,000 new songs will be released every day. That’s around 137 million new songs every year. Note: there are approximately 38 million minutes in the average human life, including sleep. Spiral numbers are the kind of thing that might make you want to give up on finding that awesome new band – with such a big haystack, who would be a Needle Seeker? Music lovers need help.

Thirty years ago, help came from friends, but mostly from the radio. When I was a teenager John Peel was Britain’s quintessential music curator, with his live sessions and nightly twists and turns, but there were plenty of other box diggers to help separate the wheat from the chaff. . I had shoeboxes full of C90 tapes from Pete Tong’s Essential Selection (note the title) and Tim Westwood’s Rap Show. Jo Whiley, Steve Lamacq, Mark Radcliffe, and later Annie Mac all served as filters and champions, and when they started posting Radio 1 playlists to dance magazines was defining for me. Listen to the track, identify the track, buy the track. Then, impress your friends with the depth and diversity of musical knowledge and a vast collection of records. There was a cache in being the person who introduced so and so to what was to become his next obsession, as if you had put him in touch with a keeper.

Art and music in harmony at the Lancaster exhibition http://www.tangodorado.com/art-and-music-in-harmony-at-the-lancaster-exhibition/ Sun, 10 Oct 2021 03:55:00 +0000 http://www.tangodorado.com/art-and-music-in-harmony-at-the-lancaster-exhibition/
The music has inspired many artists showing their work at the Art of Music exhibition, including Nicola Hepworth whose painting, Steel Pan Players, will be on display.
The music has inspired many artists showing their work at the Art of Music exhibition, including Nicola Hepworth whose painting, Steel Pan Players, will be on display.

The Art of Music is the second time that King Street Arts (formerly known as King St Studios) has presented an exhibition to coincide with the Lancaster Music Festival.

The exhibition opens on October 13, the day before the Festival, and continues until October 25.

“No art form is isolated and we have always wanted to open a dialogue between the different creative arts,” said Roy Smith, who created King Street Arts with Kath McDonald in 2017.

Nearly 50 local, national and international artists will present works ranging from paintings, drawings and sculptures to photography, video, mixed media and printmaking at the King Street Studios, the Storey Building and the Atticus Bookstore.

And while visitors view the artwork, they can also listen to music as occasionally musicians will perform in the galleries.

These include visual artist Edward Foster who presents a Renaissance Lute concert on October 16 at 7:30 p.m., and Celtic harpist, Celia Briar who performs at a music and drawing event on October 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at King Street Arts. Places are limited during these events and must therefore be reserved in advance by sending an email to: [email protected]

Aspiring artists also have the opportunity to perfect their skills during free workshops on October 16 hosted by Kath.

Lancaster-based artist James Mackie will exhibit his work at the Art of Music exhibition.

Draw To The Beat will use the power of music to inspire attendees at the Storey Building in two sessions from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. Equipment is provided but places are limited, please reserve by sending an email to: [email protected]

Together with the members of the Lancaster Music Festival board of directors, Roy and Kath had the difficult task of selecting works for the exhibition from professional and semi-professional artists.

The chosen work was produced either by visual artists inspired or influenced by music, or by musicians who are also visual artists.

Among them is James Mackie of Lancaster, a visual artist, who as a musician performed with The Selecter and Madness during the 1980s, and Manchester-based Rachael Addis, featured artist in the BBC documentary on the ‘Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2020.

All works are for sale and visitors can vote for their favorite exhibition so artists have a chance to win a cash prize.

The art of music can be seen October 13-25 every day except October 24. The opening hours are from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. from October 14 to 17; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from October 18 to 25, except October 22 and 23 when it is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free entry.
