Watch Psy and Suga from BTS’ ‘That That’ Music Video

“Gangnam Style” paved the way for the rise of K-pop – and now Psy calls on today’s top Korean star: BTS’s Suga. On Friday, Psy released his single “That That” from his aptly named new album, Psy 9th. The disc, which was also released on Friday, is Psy’s first album since 2017. Psi 8th 4X2=8.

The “That That” video features Suga, who also produced the K-pop hitmaker’s record. Rocking cowboy outfits, the two are seen dancing in a saloon and in a car to a catchy tune.

Psy opened up about what it was like working with the boy band rapper in a video titled “best friends 16 years apart.” “When I meet young artists, I don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable. I don’t want to be a difficult person to approach. He just wasn’t my junior in the business, but he definitely feels like a friend,” Psy said. “It was hard to feel an age gap. If he considers me a best friend, that’s great for me.

Suga also shared what it was like to work with Psy on the track. “At first, because he is several years older than me and someone who is very well respected in the industry, I was quite nervous. It was like working with a childhood friend, which made the songwriting process even more fun,” Suga said. “We kind of became best friends.”

As the collaborative process continued, Suga and Psy established a personal connection he hadn’t anticipated. “To be honest, I haven’t become that close to anyone I collaborate with. It’s because I’m not one to meet and collaborate in person,” Suga said in a separate video. “But he wanted to see me in person. During production, we were going back and forth a lot. Seriously, I didn’t expect to dance with Psi. I thought I was just writing the song!”

“That That” is one of 12 tracks from Psy 9th, which also includes the tracks “Happier” with Crush, “Forever” with Tablo and “Everyday”. Psy teased “That That” for several days before the song debuted, sharing visuals from the music video and an image of a cartoon version of himself posing in the desert.
